The Evolution Of Social Security
Just in case some of you aren't aware of this! Its easy to check out if you don't believe it. Be sure and show it to your kids. They need a little history lesson on what's what regarding our Social Security.
_____________________________________________
Franklin Roosevelt, a Democrat, introduced the Social
Security (FICA) Program He promised:
1.) That participation in the Program would be
completely voluntary,
2.) That the participants would only have to pay
1% of the first $1,400 of their annual
incomes into the Program,
3.) That the money the participants elected to put
into the Program would be deductible from
their income for tax purposes each year,
4.) That the money the participants put into the
independent "Trust Fund" rather than into the
General operating fund, and therefore, would
only be used to fund the Social Security
Retirement Program, and no other
Government program, and,
5.) That the annuity payments to the retirees
would never be taxed as income.
------------------------------------------------------------
Since many of us have paid into FICA for years and are now receiving a Social Security check every month -- and then finding that we are getting taxed on 85% of the money we paid to the Federal government to "put away" -- you may be interested in the following:
-------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Which Political Party took Social Security from the
independent "Trust Fund" and put it into the
General fund so that Congress could spend it?
A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the democratic
controlled House and Senate.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Which Political Party eliminated the income tax
deduction for Social Security (FICA) withholding?
A: The Democratic Party.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Which Political Party started taxing Social
Security annuities?
A: The Democratic Party, with Al Gore casting the
"tie-breaking" deciding vote as President of the
Senate, while he was Vice President of the US.
---------------------------------------------------------------
Q: Which Political Party decided to start giving
annuity payments to immigrants?
AND MY FAVORITE:
A: That's right! Jimmy Carter and the Democratic Party.
Immigrants moved into this country, and at age 65,
began to receive Social Security payments! The
Democratic Party gave these payments to them,
even though they never paid a dime into it!
----------------------------! ---------------------------------
Then, after doing all this lying and thieving and violating
of the original contract (FICA), the Democrats
turn around and tell you that the Republicans
want to take your Social Security away!
And the worst part about it is uninformed citizens believe it!

Collector Candidate Making Excuses Over Tax Payments
So, you have two highly qualified individuals, both working in the Collector's office, running for the job of St. Charles County Collector. Democrat Sharon Boerding, the office's second in command, and republican Michelle McBride, the office's fiscal manager.
Both seem qualified on the surface to run this office, so unfortunately, the voters only can look at the records of these women as employees.
Boerding pointed out that McBride, in the past four years, has been late paying her personal property taxes -- although she paid the taxes, and penalties. In this day and age of two year licenses for our vehicles, it's not that uncommon, although you would think an employee of the collector's office would be a bit more careful about such things.
But Boerding, who owns a vacation home at Lake of the Ozarks with her husband, St. Charles' Assistant Police Chief Bob Boerding, never paid her personal property taxes to St. Charles County until two years ago.
Now, considering that Boerding is a 31 year veteran of the office, you'd think she'd know better. More importantly, she comes out swinging, suggesting that since the law doesn't define where she must be a resident, it is perfectly okay for her to pay her taxes elsewhere because tax rates are lower there!
A bit of hoopla was made a few weeks ago when Boerding's husband showed up in uniform to Sts. Joachim and Ann Church for a Meet the Candidates Night, sat behind her table and handed out literature on his wife's behalf. Nothing wrong with a husband supporting his wife's bid for public office, unless he's the assistant police chief and in uniform, a violation of city policy.
The bottom line is -- in whom do you place your trust to run the collector's office? Someone that was late paying personal property taxes and paid the appropriate penalties without manipulating it from the office, or someone that didn't pay personal property taxes at all for years to her schools, her city, her county, her fire district, etc.
Seems to me that Ms. Boerding is using ambiguities in the law to shirk her own community responsibility as a taxpayer. Pretty pathetic for an assistant county collector and a cop!

Rookies Must Be The Place To Be!
Okay, it's boring, I know ... but if you spend a little bit of time checking out the Missouri Ethics Commission website, you can see where the money is coming from and where it's being spent.
You can see the usual suspects ... all the democrat candidates have labor unions from all over the place footing their bills for them, all the republicans have business interests -- nothing strange, there.
But as you read some of these reports that are required to be filed every so often (quarterly, 30 days after an election, 7 days prior to an election, etc), there are some things that seem to stick out in your mind.
If you look at former democrat state Rep. Tom Green's reports, you'll see that Rookies Bar & Grill on New Town Blvd. seems to be quite the popular place. So popular, mind you, that Green has spent some $2,500 there on his bar tabs in three months, utilizing campaign money in which to do it.
Amazingly, even with all of these "refreshments for workers" that Green has disclosed on his reports, some of the expenditures come more than once in a day.
Here's the breakdown:
Date/ Amount
8-Aug - 339.40
15-Sep - 146.28
22-Sep - 152.52
22-Sep - 165.28
1-Oct - 256.01
7-Oct - 300.66
10-Oct - 228.06
13-Oct - 343.11
19-Oct - 250.03
23-Oct - 138.37
26-Oct - 176.00
Totals - 2495.72
You'd think that, after having been arrested not once, but TWICE for boating while intoxicated at the Lake of the Ozarks, Mr. Green would think it would be a good idea to stay away from bars.
I guess some people just never learn.
